1. Who we are

Degree Index is a graduate ROI and AI-risk calculator available at degreeindex.co.uk. We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. You can contact us at hello@degreeindex.co.uk.

2. What data we collect

When you use Degree Index we may collect:

• Your name and email address — when you sign in with Google
• The degree field and financial inputs you enter into the calculator
• Saved Career Blueprints — the scenario and result you choose to save
• Payment information — processed by Stripe; we never see or store your card details
• Technical data — IP address, browser type, pages visited, collected automatically via cookies and analytics

3. Why we collect it

We use your data to:

• Provide the calculator and save your Career Blueprints
• Process your payment securely via Stripe
• Improve the service and diagnose technical issues
• Measure advertising performance via Google Analytics (with your consent)

Our lawful basis is contract performance (delivering the service you paid for) and, where applicable, your consent (analytics and advertising cookies).

4. Cookies

We use cookies for:

• Essential operation of the site — including your sign-in session
• Google Analytics — with your consent, to understand how visitors use the site

You can manage cookie preferences at any time using the cookie banner on our site.

5. Who we share data with

We share data only with the third-party services needed to run Degree Index:

• Stripe — payment processing (stripe.com/gb/privacy)
• Supabase — secure database storage (supabase.com/privacy)
• Vercel — website hosting (vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy)
• Google — sign-in, analytics (policies.google.com/privacy)

We do not sell your data to any third party.

6. How long we keep your data

We retain your account data and saved blueprints for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account and all associated data by emailing us. Payment records are retained for 7 years as required by HMRC.

7. Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your data
• Object to or restrict processing
• Lodge a complaint with the ICO (ico.org.uk)

8. Data security

All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Payment data is handled entirely by Stripe and never touches our servers. Account and blueprint data is stored in a secured Supabase database with row-level security enforced.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Continued use of Degree Index after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
